— The Story of Yusuke Suganuma —

After living in Niseko, I realized, “I’m not really cut out for cold weather,” so I decided to move somewhere warmer. That’s when I started a resort job at PiPi and ended up working there as a guide.

Since you’ve gone to the trouble of coming all the way to Iriomote Island, I hope you’ll have the time of your life before heading home. Through this tour, I hope not only to show you the beauty of Iriomote Island’s nature, but also to create a memorable experience that will make you want to come back again.

— We Asked Yusuke Suganuma —

Q.What’s a memorable story about a customer?

I have a vivid memory of the first time I guided a family visiting Okinawa. The children, in particular, really took a liking to Iriomote Island and told me, “We want to come back.” I was so happy when they actually came back to visit as a family the very next year. I’ll never forget how our tour helped them fall in love with Iriomote Island.

Q.How do you spend your days off?

I spend my time sipping coffee at my favorite coffee shop, which uses carefully selected coffee beans.

Q.What are the "must-see" highlights of your top-recommended tour?

My top recommendation is the mangrove canoe tour. What I really want you to see is the scenery unique to Iriomote Island, surrounded by mangroves. The further you go up the river, the fewer man-made structures you’ll see, and all you’ll hear is the sound of water, the wind, and birdsong. I hope you’ll experience this sense of being in a completely different world—as if you’ve stepped right into the jungle—with your whole body.

Q.What kind of customers would you recommend this to?

Perfect for families. Also ideal for first-time visitors to Iriomote Island.

Participants / Kabira Bay SUP & Blue Cave Snorkeling

My first SUP experience was so much fun! They patiently taught me everything from the basics, so even as a beginner, I was able to paddle easily. I was blown away by the beauty of the ocean, the stunning scenery, and the refreshing breeze—everything was amazing! I’m so glad I did it!! Unfortunately, due to bad weather, we couldn’t go snorkeling at the Blue Grotto, but the staff handled the situation very thoughtfully. I definitely want to try again!

Tetsuo / Stargazing & Night Tour

We went as a family, including our 5-year-old child, at the end of the year. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t great, so we couldn’t see the starry sky, but the guide was very kind to our child, and we had a wonderful experience. Our child was also delighted, saying they had fun seeing all kinds of creatures.

Participants / Starry Sky & Subtropical Jungle Night Tour

I had the opportunity to take part in the Jungle Night Tour. The guide provided just the right amount of information about the flora and fauna, making for a very pleasant experience, for which I am grateful. Thank you for giving me this valuable experience.
