西表島には空港がないため、本土から直接飛行機で行くことが出来ません。
西表島へ向かうには石垣島から高速フェリーにのる必要があり、目的地に合わせて西表島北部の上原港か、南部の大原港に向かいます。

上原港は西表島の北部にある港で、石垣島からはフェリーで約50分で到着します。

大原港は、西表島の東南部にある港で、石垣島からは約45分程で到着します。
冬場は北風の影響で上原港が欠航することが多いため、冬場の西表島に行く際は上原港に向かう方も振り替えで利用することが多い港です。
台風時以外はほとんど欠航することがない港の為、運航状況は比較的安定した港となっております。
